Shaykh Muhammad Azhar Iqbal (db)
Shaykh Muhammad Azhar Iqbal was born and raised in Karachi and travelled to the United States for his undergraduate studies. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and began a Ph.D. program in Economics at New York University prior to returning to Pakistan to pursue his study of the Islamic sciences. Formally authorized by Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad in the science of Islamic spirituality (Tasawwuf) in 2003, Shaykh Azhar also completed the eight year Alim course studying at the school located on his Shaykh's sanctuary. During his studies he was fortunate to spend significant amount of time in the Shaykh's company, accompanying him on many national and international dawa tours.
Shaykh Azhar recently moved back to Karachi where he now assists seekers on the path of Tasawwuf. In addition to weekly lectures at different places in the city, his dhikr gathering takes place at his residence in D.H.A Phase 4 every Sunday morning.
