Shaykh Sharif Fani (db)

A native of Azad Jummu Kashmir, Mufti Sharif Fani (db) began his religious education at an early age. After completing his memorization of the Holy Quran, he proceeded onto and excelled in his Alim studies under Maulana Sarfraz Safdar (db), who himself studied under one of the students of Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri (rah), one of the leading scholars of the Indian subcontinent. An excellent student eager to learn more, he then completed his Mufti studies under Mufti Yusuf Khan (db) and was soon appointed the official Mufti of Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Highly involved in teaching and spreading the light of Islam, Mufti Sharif (db) moved to America in 1995, where he served as Imam in several masajid on the East Coast. He met and became a student of Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmed (db) in 2002, and quickly progressed under him just as he had progressed in everything else he had done previously. An avid learner and hard worker, Mufti Sharif (db) was formally authorized in the science of Islamic spirituality (Tasawwuf) by Shaykh Zulfiqar in 2005.

Mufti Sharif (db) is currently working on several projects in the Atlanta area, including Jamia Zainab, a school for girls in the Atlanta suburbs. In addition to this he regularly holds gatherings of dhikr and sacred knowledge, thereby continuing his valuable work of serving Muslims in America.
